Cure Anxiety Attacks

cure anxiety attacksPanic attacks can happen to anyone regardless of sex, age, or overall health. People who suffer panic attacks experience feelings of fear, anxiousness, despair, and shortness of breath. The experience is something that is not soon forgotten. A primary goal becomes not going through the experience again. For this reason, many people seek to cure anxiety attacks in the form of medications.

But there are natural methods to cure anxiety attacks that work much quicker and are much safer than medications. This doesn’t mean to say that medications can’t be helpful to someone experiencing panic attacks. But they don’t work for everyone.

If a medication is prescribed for someone who isn’t in need of it, the medication can actually make matters worse. Some people may even exhibit signs of depression as a result. They can then be diagnosed with depression. And now they have a brand new problem on their hands – all as a result of taking medication for one panic attack.

Medications also pose the risk of dependency. Natural remedies to cure panic attacks pose neither of the above-mentioned risks.

Relaxed Breathing

When you begin to feel a panic attack coming on, the body’s first instinct is to fight against it. This results in the breath shortening, rapid heartbeat, and overall tension in the body. This only worsens the panic attack.

To stop this from happening, you can learn to stay calm by breathing slowly and deeply. This technique will take some practice, but is actually one of the best anxiety attack cures. Place one hand on your stomach and the other on your chest. As you inhale, the goal is to have the hand on your chest stay still while the hand on your stomach rises. Inhale through your nose and exhale the breath out of your mouth for three seconds. To prevent hyperventilating, wait five seconds between each breath.

If you practice this technique when you are not having a panic attack, it will come naturally to you when you are not thinking clearly during a panic attack.

Muscle Relaxation

When implementing natural methods to cure anxiety attacks, relaxing the entire body is just as important as getting your breathing controlled. To get this done, start with your muscles. This method starts at the toes and moves upward to the other muscle groups.

Clench the muscles as tightly as possible for 30 seconds to a minute. You should feel the muscles start to hurt a bit before releasing them. Then relax the muscles until they go entirely limp. Practice this method until you are sure you know how to make the muscles feel completely relaxed.

Continue with this method with all the muscles in the legs, arms, hands, fingers, neck, and shoulders. Similar to the breathing technique, practice these methods when you are not experiencing panic attacks. This way you’ll be able to recognize the tension in your muscles at the onset of a panic attack and instinctively know how to relax them.

Exercise

Exercise is my favorite of the natural ways to cure anxiety attacks. It really doesn’t matter what kind of exercise. A short half hour walk around the neighborhood is sufficient to fend off panic attacks.

Exercise also improves your overall health, boosts energy levels, and improves self-esteem. Try to get outside as much as possible for your exercise. The fresh air of the outdoors will make you feel more relaxed and rejuvenated.
